Section 1: The "Island Chic" Wardrobe

Puerto Rico is tropical and humid. Breathability is your best friend.

  • Daytime: Stick to natural fibers like linen or high-performance "dry-fit" synthetics. Avoid heavy denim; it won’t dry in the 80% humidity.

  • Nighttime: Most restaurants in San Juan are "Resort Casual." A breezy sundress or a light button-down with chinos is perfect.

  • The Swimsuit Rule: Bring at least three. One to wear, one drying, and one "just in case." Things dry slowly in the Caribbean air.

Section 2: Adventure & Nature Essentials

If you are visiting El Yunque or the Bioluminescent Bays, standard tourist gear won't cut it.

  • Water Shoes with Grip: The rocks in waterfall basins are incredibly slippery. Flip-flops are a safety hazard here; get shoes with a heel strap and rubber tread.

  • The Dry Bag: If you’re taking a catamaran to Culebra or kayaking in Vieques, a 10L dry bag will keep your phone and towels safe from salt spray.

  • Reef-Safe Sunscreen: To protect the coral reefs, local regulations and ethics favor mineral sunscreens (Zinc or Titanium based).

Section 3: Tech & Practicality

  • Power Bank: You'll be using GPS and taking photos all day. Don't get caught with a dead battery in a remote beach parking lot.

  • Physical Cash: While Apple Pay and cards are standard in cities, the best local food (and beach parking) often requires "cash only."

  • Noise-Canceling Headphones: Between the festive nightlife and the loud (but cute) Coquí frogs, light sleepers will appreciate the silence.
